Lobito Corridor – A Gamechanger for the African Mining Sector
Spanning 1,300 km across three countries, the Lobito Corridor railway has transformed mining logistics in Central and Southern Africa. It was designed to transport critical minerals from the Copperbelt in the DRC and Zambia to the port of Lobito in Angola, boosting trade, reducing costs, and enabling the profitable mining of lower-grade ore. The project has demonstrated its potential to unlock Africa’s mineral wealth and fostered regional development and international partnerships.
Mining Review Africa and the Angolan International Mining Conference hosted a free webinar where experts explored the corridor’s role in supplying critical metals globally.
Topics included:
- Angola’s role in developing the Lobito Corridor
- Its impact on regional mining operations
- Enhancing regional integration & cooperation
- Economic benefits for the region
- Overcoming ESG challenges
